Aluminium Pods for Nespresso®
Aluminum coffee pods
L’OR was the first to introduce Nespresso® compatible pods in aluminum. The company is part of the large Dutch coffee company Jacobs Douwe Egberts, which has been making coffee since the 1750s. Jacobs is known for making e.g. Jacobs Krönung, which is the best-selling coffee brand in Germany and behind known brands such as Kenco, Peets and many more.
The high quality of coffee is the cornerstone of aluminum pods for Nespresso®®, and you can therefore be sure that you get an exquisite cup of coffee, no matter which variant of L’OR’s Nespresso® compatible pods you choose.
Aluminum as a capsule material
Aluminum is often used for wrapping food (e.g. also in beer and soda cans), because it is particularly good for ensuring a tight wrapping that does not let taste and aroma evaporate. All original Nespresso® pods are made from aluminum as well.
The environment and aluminum pods
Aluminum takes approx. 200 years to be degraded by natural means and therefore throwing it in the bin is bad for the environment unless you sort it for recycling. Aluminum can be recycled infinitely many times, which is why aluminum pods can also be considered a very environmentally friendly alternative to other pods - as long as the aluminum pods are sorted correctly and thrown in the special aluminum bins at the recycling station.
Nespresso® has developed a recycling system for its aluminum coffee pods, so that the used coffee pods are melted down into new coffee pods. If you sort your aluminum pods correctly at the recycling station, they will also be melted down and recycled as packaging for soot cans or the like.
